six months after their last installment, shir khan and exploited drop another hot to trot collection of disco edits. as usual, there is much to excite, beginning with the familiar guitar solos, rhodes keys and dub disco pulse of antilopes *singing ghost* rework. death on the balcony keep up the reverb and delay-laden dub disco theme on *addict for your love*, whose rubbery groove, twinkling pianos and heady vocals have been expertly rearranged to fit house dancefloors. finally, matpat go loop crazy on the thumping disco house cut *only you* which sits somewhere between rahaan and soundstream. excellent stuff all round.

after the infinite arpeggios of mattheis and the drum drive of oceanic, the third installment on nousklaer holds the middle right in between them. for this remix ep mattheis and oceanic exchanged tracks, and both came up with a new take on each others work. oceanic turns blablavism up and strips it down to a welcome version for club play. mattheis his version of hidden bero counts as a live kraut cover, barely using anything of the original, despite its mantric

for a brief moment turin was italys sheffield, producing an astonishing number of diy electronic groups. in the context of a wider europe, italy has never been thought of as a hotbed of minimal electronic music, but mannequin records compilations danza meccanica: italian synth wave 1982-1987 have shone a light on a scene little heard, even within italys borders. but the history was still incomplete ... some new horizons now must be unveiled, showing that between the years of 1982 and 1984, the city of turin in northwest italy was home to a quiet underground renaissance of experimental electronic music.

allnite music 002 brings alex agore with some of his best works so far. both *basement jam* and *be someone* tracks strikes right the middle of the target, somehow between his earlier 4lux works and his no matter what hot dancefloor stuff. on b side, apoena presents two grooved house tracks with jazz sounding keys cut directly from vinyl. just a killer 4-tracker!

the occasional (but always excellent) street edits series returns, this time with a trio of high-grade scalpel works from chicago re-edit hero rahaan. as usual, the source material is dusty and obscure, and the reworks revelatory. -city of disco- is in many ways typical of rahaan s work, with carefully cuts and loops being used to create a thumping, house style groove (admittedly one that pays due reverence to the source material). there s more of a celebratory, soulful feel about the impeccable -strung out-, which turns a little-known disco-soul gem into a huggable dancefloor classic. best of all, though, is -brighten you up-, which sits somewhere between later electrofunk and early house, a proto-proto gem, perhaps. either way, it s a killer.

having previously kept their re-edit series in-house, leeds-based crate-diggers joe s bakery have invited moton (aka london veterans diesel and dave jarvis) to deliver the latest release. those who ve followed the moton records inc series (active since the 90s) will know what to expect: expert re-rubs of obscure material that get the right balance between dancefloor chops and home listening selections. look out for the odd shuffle and electric piano solos of -moody blues-, the percussive early 80s, synth-heavy live disco brilliance of -zoo- (yes, it s definitely balearic) and the hazy, midtempo disco-funk of -bumps-. it s getting progressively hard to find worthwhile re-edit 12- singles, but this one s a genuine killer

resopal schallware first vinyl release in 2015 returns to the fore with none other than roar, purveyors of masterfully-crafted rhythm études and member of the south-of france vibrant house scene. with o pi ohm ep, the two producers bring their first ep to the resopal imprint. with roars ability to maneuver between true school grooves, malicious house, sick synthie lines and relaxed romanticism the three tracks are ornamented with their very own mark.

ecstatic welcomes l/f/d/m to the fold with his debut record m is a shape. l/f/d/m is london based producer richard smith. l/f/d/m first emerged in 2013, inaugurating the optimo trax series with the purple maps ep. in 2014 he teamed up with factory floors dominic butler to release two eps of hardware-driven atonal techno on powells diagonal records. m is a shape bristles with cloudy, industrial, stripped down acid/techno, landing somewhere between berghain, the warehouse sound of the late 90s and the caustic spirit of ebm.

former padded cell and bronx dogs man richard sen has made some great records in his time, and songs of pressure is up there with the best of them. joining the dots between murky dub disco, horror soundtracks and ebm, it layers spooky, delay-laden synthesizer motifs and wonky vocal samples atop a heavy dub rhythm and punchy machine drums. pals andrew weatherall and timothy j fairplay deliver a bongo-laden, dubbed-out revision (part wayward exotica, part humid balearic dub), while acca strips the track down to its nare bones for a ket-addled dub. its a fantastic 12inch, and limited to just 99 copies. you snooze, you lose.

neustadtmusik, with great pleasure, presents two excellent new tracks. dietrich & strolch have created an exquisite, smooth piece of music. the two brothers, who are known for their live sets that take their audience on a journey, have combined their passion for percussions and wicked synth sound perfectly. this track takes you to a deep underground techno dance floor where you find yourself dancing with your eyes closed and drifting away into another dimension, to the ocean, the sun and warm sand between your feet and back. sous sol s track on this release has it all, including a sense of delight that brings out a smile on your face. the rolling bass line brings in mind the siberian express rolling through the cold winter landscape of russia while at the same time there is warmth and the heart gets filled with these warm elements. this rolls parallel to a consistent build up throughout the whole track that makes this composition just perfect.
